The Laramie County Weed & Pest Control District is accepting applications for the Assistant Supervisor position. This position is full-time and is open until filled.

Duties and Responsibilities

The assistant supervisor will work under the direction of the District Supervisor to assist with the implementation of programs related to designated and declared weed and pest control programs in Laramie County.

  • Shares the responsibility of seasonal supervision, safety training, landowner communication, treatments, special projects and assignments as required.
  • Must be able to communicate and cooperate with local landowners, customers, various groups and agencies in the county, as well as other employees. Communication is essential for this position.
  • Shall mix, load, and apply pesticides safely and correctly, as well as use application and other equipment and tools.
  • must be able to perform adequate recordkeeping and documentation for pesticide applications.
  • Be able to use computer programs for recordkeeping, weed mapping, have experience with GIS systems, and perform public education using social media.
  • Other duties include maintenance and repair of spray and shop equipment, training and working with summer spraying crews, and inspecting and certifying straw & hay. 

 

Qualifications

Required: The assistant supervisor will be required to have a high school diploma, two (2) years recent experience in a job-related field of weed and pest control.

  • must have a valid, insurable drivers license and a good driving record.
  • will need to have or obtain within one (1) year a Wyoming commercial pesticide applicator license with categories 901A and 906.
  • is required to get a State of Wyoming Weed and Pest Control District Supervisor’s Certification within one (1) year of initial date of employment.

Preferred: The assistant supervisor will have at least two years of college preferable with agriculture-related courses or related trade apprenticeship and/or specialized training in weed and pest control.

  • has satisfactorily completed courses in Entomology and Weed Science or their equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • have knowledge of use, maintenance, and repair of spray and shop equipment and tools.
  • know the methods and regulations pertaining to pesticide applications.
  • be able to identify weeds and plants.

Locations: Pine Bluffs, WY and at the Archer Complex - Cheyenne, WY

Beginning Wage Range: Wages based upon education and/or experience.
