K-12 School Principal
POSITION TITLE: K-12 School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate Wyoming administrative certification.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal is responsible for providing effective instructional leadership and is accountable for the school’s operation which includes but is not limited to: instruction, curriculum, staff supervision and evaluation, staff development, student discipline, record-keeping, public relations, security and maintenance of building and grounds.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Leads people with passion, energy, respect and integrity.
- Develops and administers school programs consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership and direction to staff with regard to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of educational programs, including curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Promotes a school environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
- Ensures that board policies and procedures are implemented and followed at the school.
- Encourages staff to continue to grow professionally and to implement the professional learning community framework of collaboration.
- Understands Wyoming Content and Performance standards and can facilitate the development of priority standards, assessments, currciulum maps and pacing guides at each grade level.
- Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and reporting for all student activities, attendance and records as required by law.
- Coordinates the work of school staff and school district program leaders to implement the professional learning community and response to intervention framework.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning data, and works with teaching staff to modify instructional methods to individualize instruction for all students.
- Organizes and conducts regular walk through observations and follow up meetings with teachers for continuing development of tier one instructional techniques.
- Involves staff in the evaluation of professional development and the planning of new professional development.
- Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
- Supervises and evaluates teaching staff and other building employees in accordance with the school district's evaluation plan, and makes recommendations regarding goals, areas needing improvement and continued employment.
- Organizes and manages the budgetary and financial affairs of the school consistent with school district policies.
- Other duties as assigned by Superintendent
