Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Learning Specialist.
Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking a highly qualified Learning Specialist to join our team of dedicated faculty members starting in the fall of 2022. This educator will support the academic progress of diverse learners in our college preparatory boarding school. The CRMS Learning Specialist works closely with students, faculty, and parents with the goal of enhancing student success through direct intervention, professional development, and outside support mechanisms. CRMS faculty may also participate in our active program (including outdoor, sports, arts, and community service curricula) and may contribute to our residential life program.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Meet with students 1-1 and in small groups to provide targeted academic support
- Provide appropriate academic accommodations, including assistive technology and classroom interventions, for students as appropriate.
- Educate and support teachers by providing best practices for addressing the needs of all students
- Coordinate academic support structures for students with learning needs and oversee our tutoring program
- Work with the Academic Dean, Student Support Team, and Instructional Support Teacher to develop protocols appropriate for a college-preparatory, boarding school environment
- Maintain records of educational evaluations, learning profiles, and approved accommodations
- Apply for College Board and ACT accommodations
- Maintain compliance with ADA
- Read applicant files and provide recommendations to Admission
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
- Take on other duties as needed
- Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree or Special Education credential preferred
- Teaching or learning support experience (1-year minimum)
- Experience teaching fundamental skill sets (reading comprehension, writing, numeracy, executive function)
- Demonstrated experience in the use of technology
- Organization/time-management skills
- Cultural competencies required to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging within a diverse cultural and social framework
- Ability to effectively engage with students in our educational community
