POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional is responsible for providing support to the
instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction
of students with significant disabilities; observing and documenting student progress;
implementing plans for instruction; and assisting students by providing for special health care
needs and monitoring student behavior.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Personalized Learning Services Paraprofessional:
1. Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care
professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs and developing children's
daily living activities and behavioral skills. *
2. Assists medically fragile or physically disabled students getting on and off the school bus for
the purpose of maintaining students' personal safety. *
3. Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying
information relative to job functions. *
4. Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel for the
purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives. *
5. Maintains a variety of materials (e.g. instructional materials, files, records, charts, etc.) for the
purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reference, and meeting mandated
requirements. *
6. Manages a variety of assigned activities for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning
environment. *
7. Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose
of maintaining a safe and positive school environment. *
8. Participates in the implementation of IEP goals for the purpose of meeting IEP goals and district
benchmarks. *
9. Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities (e.g. academic
subjects, social skills, daily living skills, etc.) for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives;
implementing IEP plans, and ensuring students success in school all under the supervision of assigned
teacher. *
10. Provides adapted classroom activities, assignments, and materials under the direction of the
supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives. *
11. Provides feedback of observations for the purpose of informing teachers and administrators of
student progress. *
12. Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for the purpose of solving problems, providing
information, and directing to other sources. *
13. Tutors students on assigned class work for the purpose of providing ongoing support in the
completion of work assignments. *
14. Follows the policies and procedures of the school and the District. *
15. Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility, such as demonstrating ethical behavior;
providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining
confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately and
presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; ability to use time effectively; good organizational

cooperatively with them (including supervisors); ability to operate standard office equipment and
software applications; ability to prepare and maintain accurate records; knowledge of instructional

knowledge of child development/behavior; ability to maintain a clam demeanor; ability to maintain
confidentiality; and ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory: Minimum of high school education or GED.
Preferred: 1+ years of experience working in a school is preferred.

coordinate information and records.
